What's your money pit?

A few years ago there was a movie called "The Money Pit" It poked fun and also demonstrated the frustration of owning a home and the amount of money it takes to maintain and update a home. A never ending funnel of money poured into a central location. The reality is that "money pits" can be a number of things. A central location of items, collections, storage units, etc. where items of value have money tied up in them.

Our service provides to our customers ...
	We as individuals know that we cannot protect ourselves from the occurrence of major life events. We also know that we can take preventive measures to minimize the pain or trauma as we move through these transitions. After a major traumatic event, could you recall from memory and create an itemized list for your insurance agent? Are you prepared to take time off from work to create the list, or track down pictures and receipts? As you walked through your estate with the insurance adjuster, would your emotions allow you to remember all the items that you possess? Do your current insurance policies truly cover all your assets with the necessary riders? Could you accurately provide the necessary details to the police for lost or stolen items? Our service provides a method to itemize and document possessions, provides a remote location for data storage and retrieval, and provides a means for our client's insurance agents to insure that all of the client's property is properly covered. We at Backus Alternatives, LLC offer the following services: Digital video burned to DVD of the exterior and interior of your estate or business. 	Read-only vs. Rewritable
	We at Backus Alternatives choose to deliver your data on non-rewritable media for several reasons. With read-only media your chances of deleting records or overwriting records is eliminated. Placing your photos and inventory on to a DVD or CD for you makes storage to a remote location both easier and safer. Because the quality of pictures is better on DVD or CD it is much easier for insurance companies or police to view the information. DVD and CD are optical media with a projected shelf life of 80 years under proper storage. Magnetic media such as floppy disc or video tape start to degrade after 8 years, sometimes sooner. In addition, if this media is exposed to magnetic fields then the chances of data corruption are even greater.
	What else do we do?
	In addition to our DVD and CD options we also offer one update per year at your request. All update requests must be submitted in written form either by mail, fax, or e-mail. We cannot except phone requests for this service. Once your inventory is updated we will send you updated discs.
	What we are not
	We are not certified appraisers. Our service is a documentation service only. We document those items which are presented to us at the time of filming. We will not represent you legally as to the value of your property. Customers choosing not to utilize our off-site storage options release Backus Alternatives, LLC from any liability due to improper handling or storage of the media which they receive.
